about

We have never been truly happy with the lyrics so I would rather, at this point in time, explain the intention behind the current, over wordy lyrics that exist. I grew up in a household of domestic violence towards my mother. I saw brutal things as a child in regards to the abuse she received, both mental and physical. Fortunately, my father had never been a part of this. He never knew what was going on because my parents were divorced and my sisters and I were too afraid to tell him. It was other men that my mother was with. Parts of the song focus on seeing things happen to my mother through the eyes of an eight-year-old child. I’ve had to watch some douchebag break both my mother’s arms behind her back. These were the male influences I was receiving from men around the house. A child’s mind is very permeable and these things could have caused serious mental scarring to my own views now that I’m a man. Luckily, I have a loving father and have always been raised by strong women, including my older sisters. Last year, my partner and I went to Guatemala to volunteer at the only domestic violence shelter in Guatemala. We were exposed to very young women that were abused, raped, and pressured to keep children when they were still children themselves. I have no tolerance for abuse towards women under any circumstances and this song is basically about that. I just want to stress that all the women in my life have always been so strong and beautiful and femicide is still a huge problem worldwide.
Revised lyrics will be on the way…..
